14 Apr, 2024

🎬 Introducing H.265/HEVC Codec Support

A highlight of this update is the addition of the H.265/HEVC codec for video encoding. This advanced codec significantly improves video compression efficiency without compromising on quality. H.265/HEVC is renowned for its ability to compress video files up to 50% more than its predecessor, H.264, making it an excellent choice for high-definition video projects. Whether you’re a content creator looking to save on storage space or a business aiming to streamline your digital assets, the inclusion of H.265/HEVC codec promises to elevate your video compression capabilities.

You can switch the default codec from H.264 to H.265 in the Advanced tab of the Settings window.

πŸ”’ Enhanced User Privacy with Opt-out Option for Anonymous Analytics

At CompressX, we value user privacy and understand the importance of giving control back to our users. With version 1.7, we introduce an option to opt-out of anonymous analytics. This feature ensures that you have the choice of whether or not to share usage data, giving you more privacy and control over your information. We believe in transparency and building trust with our users, and this update is a step further in that direction.

You can choose to opt out of anonymous analytics in the Advanced tab within the Settings window.

πŸ‘‰ Streamlined Access with Compression History Update

Navigating your compression history just got easier. With the new update, tapping an item in your compression history will directly open it in Finder. This tweak is designed to streamline your workflow, allowing for quicker access and management of your compressed files, saving you time and clicks.

πŸ”§ Critical Fixes for an Improved Experience

In addition to new features, version 1.7 addresses several bugs to enhance overall user experience:

  • Double Compression Issue: We’ve rectified a problem where the automatic compression process would unnecessarily process a file twice. This fix ensures a more efficient compression cycle, saving you time and avoiding potential confusion.
  • Persistent Product Hunt Review Button: We noticed that the Product Hunt review button was more persistent than intended. This update fixes the issue, making sure the button behaves as expected without detracting from your user experience.

We encourage you to update to the latest version to take advantage of these new features and improvements. To update the app, go to CompressX β†’ Check for updates... or click Check for Updates in the Settings window.

As always, we are eager to hear your feedback to make CompressX even better in future updates. Happy compressing!
